WHY JOIN AN AGENCY?

Whenever we get asked this question, a million different reasons come to mind, I thought today it would be interesting to go over a few of the main reasons why we suggest joining a Talent agency!

1. Side Hustle
If you work a full time job with either flexible hours, a rotating roster or you work for yourself, being signed with an agency may be a great way to make a little more money each month on top of your average salary. The best part about this is you don't have to go out and find the job, we do this all for you! All you need to do it apply and wait to see if you are successful or not. It really couldn't be more simple! Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee enough work each week in order for you to make a living off it, but the money you do make form jobs through us could be used so many ways. Whether you're wanting to renovate, buy yourself something you've wanted for a while, take a trip away or simply just build on your savings, it is a great way to get there just that little bit quicker!

2. Making new friends
With extra work, I often find that all of the other talent on set are super likeminded and similar in a way! Although everyone comes from different walks of life and backgrounds, there is something so amazing that happens when you all start chatting and getting to know one another! I don't know if it is because everyone realises they're all there for the same reason and it is super important to get to know those around as you're usually together for a long time, or if everyone who signs up with an agency are just super excited and happy to be on set! Either way, I personally have made some amazing lifelong friends while being on set and I'm sure a lot of others can say the same too.

3. Connections in the industry!
If you are serious about getting into this industry (more so working on set as part of crew and NOT as an extra etc!) and making a name for yourself, it is incredibly helpful when you get to know the crew working on the production you're on. If you do get the chance to chat to any of the team, introduce yourself and mention that you're interested in doing this sort of work yourself and ask them any questions you may have! Majority of the time, they will be willing to chat to you and offer you advice/tips, but make sure you are cautious about when you talk to them, obviously don't do it in the middle of filming, but if you have some downtime, go for it! They may even suggest checking out Crewlist - a website used by production companies to find film crew who are looking for work in New Zealand! The opportunities in this industry are endless and we highly suggest making connections whenever you can!

4. Fun!
Do you ever feel like life can be a little stagnant or repetitive at times? Being with an agency can totally bring some fun and adventure into your life! We work on SO many wonderfully different and incredible productions so you really never know what jobs may come through your inbox each week! For example, if you've ever wanted to be a nurse but didn't have the time to study for it, we can put you on Shortland Street for you to experience the 'on-screen' nurse vibes for yourself! Or, in the past we have worked on productions that had our talent dressing up as deadly zombies, being involved in a plane crash in the middle of the ocean, portraying marathon runners and SO much more! This industry can really have you being involved in so many different projects, making everyday life just that little more fun!
